The HDLC pioneered the use of distance learning platforms for humanitarian operations in 2005. In a ground breaking initiative, our learning content development and delivery expertise was harnessed by the International Rescue Committee in post Tsunami Aceh, Indonesia.
Within a three month delivery timeline, the HDLC analysed IRC's Aceh specific safety & security procedures and frameworks, developed both English and Bahassa audio narratives and delivered a multi-media (Online & Offline) learning tool which is still in use today.
The result was the delivery of training to 220 staff, both local and international, across the entire province in unison.
We have recently embarked upon our 5th continuous improvement cycle, a process designed to ensure our technical platform and content remains cutting edge and value for money for our clients.
The HDLC Learning Management System (LMS) is an interactive, creative and robust platform which has been utilised by students in 35+ countries around the work. Students are not restricted by needing broadband or well entrenched internet connections. Our chosen LMS has performed beyond expectations on infrastructure as lite as VSAT and RBGAN.
It is not unusual to see our students proceeding through their modules on a laptop in the back of a utility, in a tent at a remote base camp or in local internet cafe's.
